The following declaration outlines the fundamental responsibilities of all students who attend Seminole County Public Schools.

Student Responsibilities

Students are required to:

  1. Attend school regularly.
  2. Treat others with respect.
  3. Treat school property and the property of others with respect.
  4. Respect the privacy of others.
  5. Have in their possession only those items allowed by law and/or School Board rules or policies.
  6. Listen courteously to the opinions and points of view of others.
  7. Come to class with all necessary materials and be prepared to learn.
  8. Take advantage of their learning opportunities.
  9. Report hazardous or dangerous situations to an adult in authority.
  10. Report threats to do harm to an adult in authority.
  11. Submit original work.

Seminole High School Eligibility Requirements

To participate in clubs, sports, extracurricular activities, school events, and student parking at Seminole High School, students must meet the requirements below.

The requirements outlined in the Seminole County Public Schools Student Code of Conduct and Pupil Progression Plan must be met in totality with the Seminole High School requirements listed below.

  1. Academic Standing: Be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.0 GPA, hold the appropriate credits for grade level or be in the process of acquiring them, and regularly meet testing requirements such as EOC and FAST testing.
  2. School Attendance: Meet compulsory school attendance requirements as defined by the Florida Department of Education and the Seminole High School Attendance Policy. Students may have no more than 15 unexcused absences within 90 calendar days, equating to no more than 5 unexcused absences during each four-week school period.
  3. Tardiness: Be in compliance with the Seminole High School Tardy Policy and have served any consequences associated with tardiness.
  4. Discipline: Have no major or recurring disciplinary infractions and have served all consequences assigned for disciplinary infractions.

What Is Considered a School Event?

Events include school-held dances, banquets, field trips, competitions, performances, athletic competitions, grade-level activities, and student parking.

Important: Administrative discretion may be used for extenuating or unforeseen circumstances.

Attendance Note: Florida law defines a "habitual truant" as a student who has 15 or more unexcused absences within 90 calendar days, with or without the knowledge or consent of the student's parent or guardian, and who is subject to compulsory school attendance.
