SUMMER DRIVER'S EDUCATION

Seminole County Public Schools offers a summer school driver education program at four high school sites: Hagerty, Lake Brantley, Seminole and Winter Springs High School. The program is open to any student that resides in Seminole County regardless of the school they attend. The program is a collaborative effort between Seminole County Public Schools, the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners, METROPLAN Orlando and the local municipalities.

Students must be a minimum of 15 years old and hold a valid learner's or operator's license. The course includes classroom instruction, range driving and on the road instruction with certified driver education instructors. The course options are:

Session 1: June 2-20, 2016 Time: 7:20AM - 12Noon   or 11:20AM - 4:00PM
June 2 & 3
(Thursday & Friday)
June 6-20 & 3 (Thursday & Friday)
                 OR
Session 2: June 21 - July 14, 2016  Time: 7:20AM - 12Noon   or 11:20AM - 4:00PM

(Monday - Thursday)

*No school the week of July 4-7
Students earn 5 credits upon successful completion of the course. Transportation is not provided. Statistics from the program show that students that complete this course have a lower rate of tyraffic citations and crashes during their teen years compared to students that have not taken the course. The roadways in Central Florida are congested and students now deal with the added pressures of cell phone use and texting while driving. Safe and defensive driving techniques are stressed throughout this course. Students interested in enrolling in the program need to complete the application and return it to the Guidance Office at their home school. Please click HERE for the application
